back flip search for term

Flipping backwards off a jump.

backcountry search for term

Areas outside of the resort boundaries.

backside rodeo search for term

Coming off a jump and turning your back down the hill, flipping 540 and landing fakie.

backside rotation search for term

Rotating clockwise for a regular-footer and rotating counter-clockwise for a goofy-footer.
When riding switch stance the exact reverse applies and a regular footer will rotate counter-clockwise and a goofy footer will rotate clockwise.

backside wall search for term

When standing at the top of the halfpipe and looking down towards the bottom, the backside wall is the left wall for regular footers and the right wall for goofy footers. If you ride straight down the center of the halfpipe, your backside wall is behind you.

Bail search for term

To chicken out at the last min and not do a trick, also to fall coming out of a trick.

bank search for term

a mound of snow that can be turned on , used in boardercross courses.

base search for term

A firm layer of hard-packed snow covering the ground. Also the bottom of a snowboard or ski.

basic riding search for term

like the name suggest basic movements, not a lot of twisting of the body, not a lot of flexing and extending of the legs. The riders center of mass will follow the same path as the snowboard.

Betty search for term

A female snowboarder.

big air search for term

A competition with judged aerial over a jump or half pipe. For a beginner any amount of separation from the snow can be big air.

blindside search for term

The area to the heels or back of a rider. A counter clockwise rotation for regular footers; clockwise rotation for goofy footers.

Blindside search for term

Any rotation where the rider has oriented him/herself "blind" to the landing and must stretch to look over their shoulder. Such a technique usually increases the difficulty.

Board Length search for term

The measurement from the tip to the tail, usually measured in Centimeters.

boardercross search for term

A snowboard competition where up to six riders race against each other through a course of gates set in and on jumps and banks.

Boned search for term

A term used to explain the emphasis of style in a trick. Refers to the straightening of a leg.

Bonk search for term

To hit a non-snow object with the snowboard while riding as part of a trick.

Boost search for term

To catch big air off a jump or a halfpipe.

Booter search for term

A big jump where you need lots of speed and you get launch into the air.

Bullet Proof search for term

Super hard or frozen snow.
