Definitions of snowboard slang, freestyle, and board construction.

Half cab search for term

It is the Freeriding version of the Caballerial in which one rotates a frontside 180 from fakie to forward off of a straight jump.

Halfpipe search for term

Built with snow, a halfpipe is a vertical U-shaped structure used in freestyle snowboarding. Like a skateboarding halfpipe, riders use the opposing walls to get air and perform tricks as they travel down the fall line of the slope.

Handrails search for term

What snowboarders slide and grind on, usually found in the terrain park. Also found on the street.

Hard boots search for term

Similar to ski boots, hard boots are rigid and made from hard plastic. Hard boots are used with plate bindings. They are typically used for carving and racing.

Heel edge search for term

The edge of the board closest to the riders heels.

Hip jump search for term

A big jump where the landing is located on one side of the jump.

Hit search for term

Another name for a jump.

Hole patterns search for term

The layout of holes on the top of a snowboard, through which the bindings are fastened. There are one, two, three, and four hole patterns. Four hole patterns are the standard.

Hucker search for term

One who throws himself/herself wildly through the air and does not land on his/her feet.

Hypothermia search for term

A life - threatening condition where the body temperature of the person drops dramatically below normal.
